A Mass was held Friday at St. Jude's Catholic Church for Jose Cruz Jr., 21, of Modesto. He died Monday, July 12, 2004 at Doctors Medical Center.
Burial was at St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery under the direction of the McHenry Chapel of Franklin & Downs.
Born May 27, 1983, Mr. Cruz was a native of Los Angeles and lived in Modesto for three years. Mr. Cruz previously lived in San Jose. He worked at a Sears, Roebuck and Co. warehouse in Stockton. Mr. Cruz was a member of St. Jude's Catholic Church in Ceres, and formerly attended Modesto High School.
He leaves behind his son, Julian Verduzco of San Jose; his parents, Jose Cruz Nunez Sr. and Virginia Alvarez, both of Modesto; four brothers, Cesar Nunez, Juan Manuel Nunez, Alfonso Nunez and Ivan Nunez, all of Modesto; his sister, Reina Nunez of Modesto; and his grandmother, Magdalena Gonzalez of Modesto.
