A memorial service was held Saturday at the Turlock War Memorial for Keith Lane Crabtree, 57, of Hughson. He died Jan. of 2012 in Hughson, surrounded by family, after a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born June 1954 to Richard Crabtree and Nadine (Morrill) Crabtree; both long time residents of the Hughson community. He attended Hughson Elementary and graduated from Hughson High School. Keith earned his associate degree in electronics from Modesto Junior College. Mr. Crabtree served in the Stanislaus County Fire Department from 1983 to 1989 and also volunteered with the Hughson Fire Department. He served with the Turlock City Fire Department from 1989 to 2011, earning rank of engineer. Keith was an active leader in the Turlock Fire Explorer Post. He enjoyed camping, deer and waterowl hunting and fishing.
He leaves behind his wife of 31 years, Linda Crabtree; his three children, Michael Crabtree, Brian Crabtree, and Lisa Crabtree; two brothers, Rick Crabtree of Elko, Nev,, and Hardy Crabtree of Hughson; and his mother, Nadine Crabtree of Hughson. He was preceded in death by father Richard Crabtree.
