Leona Barnhart Walker, 84, passed away on Saturday evening, Dec. 15, 2012, with her loving family by her side.

Leona was born in Seminole County, Okla., and moved to the Ceres-Modesto area in 1961. She worked for Florence's of Modesto and Ceres. She also worked for Keller's of Modesto and Ceres. She retired in 1998.

Leona enjoyed her family and friends, also genealogy, where she spent countless hours researching her family's history. She was a member of Daughter of the American Revolution and Colonial Dames.

She is survived by son Craig Barnhart, daughter-in-law Glenda Barnhart, two grand-daughters Jodi Wade Parker, Kari Barnhart and two great-grandchildren. Also survived by stepchildren Dr. Phil (Debbie) Walker, Pamela (Paul) Hampton and Paula Walker. She was preceded in death by husband Riley Barnhart, son Duane Harnhart, and husband Hershel "Ike" Walker.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Leona's name to Community Hospice, 4368 Spyres Way, Modesto CA 95356.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 20 at Lakewood Memorial Park in Hughson.
