A graveside service was held at Lakewood Memorial Park on Friday for Lester "Bussie" L. Evans, 90, of Hughson. He died on May 17, 2008.

Lakewood Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Born Dec. 27, 1917, Mr. Evans was a native of Paden, Okla. He moved to Hughson in 1935 and later married Marjorie Trost, also of Hughson, who preceded him in death on June 18, 1954. Mr. Evans was a veteran of World War II, awarded the Croix de Guerre from France for bravery, and was also awarded the Purple Heart. He worked at the Foremost Dairy Creamery in Hughson for 33 years. Mr. Evans loved to go fishing and camping with his family.

He leaves behind three daughters, Betty Filip, Barbara Barbour, and Shirley Doughty; four sisters, Velma Barkhousen, Mae Thompson, Jonnie Jones, Lois Brock; his brother, Bill Evans; three grandchildren, Bonnie Adcox, Craig Rexin and Timothy Doughty; one great-grandchild, Nicholas Adcox. He was preceded in death by sister Charlene Trammel and brother Leroy Evans.

Remembrances may be sent to the Alexander Cohen Hospice House of Hughson.
