Private services were held for Lloyd "Leon" Zinkle, 73, of Mojave Valley, Ariz. The former Ceres resident died Nov. 1, 2009 after battling cancer.
Born June 29, 1936 in Missouri, Leon had attended Ceres High School. He moved to the San Diego area in 1951. Mr. Zinkle opened his first of three shoe stores in Arizona 1980. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and all sporting events.
He leaves behind his wife, Charlotte Zinkle of Mojave Valley; two children, Pam and John Zinkle; his sisters, Pat Heard of Oregon and Shirley Jones of Ceres; his brother, Jerry Courtney of Ceres; and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd Zinkle and Chastine Haze, and son Lloyd E. Zinkle.
