A memorial service was held Tuesday at Congregation Beth Shalom for Lorraine Cohan, 83, of Hughson. She died March 7, 2009 at Hylond Convalescent Hospital in Modesto surrounded by family.
Mrs. Cohan was born Dec. 30, 1925 in Gary, Ind., where she was raised. After graduating from Indiana University in 1947, she lived in Indianpolis, Ind., Toledo, Ohio, and San Diego. In September 2006, she relocated to Hughson to be close to her daughter, Nan. She worked in retail sales for many years, finally retiring from Macy's at the age of 80.
She is survived by her children, Nan Cohan Jacobs and Marc Cohan of San Diego and Jeffrey Cohan of Pittsburgh, Penn.; and three grandchildren, Evan Jacobs, Melissa Jacobs, and Kiley Spitz Cohan. Her husband, Edwin, preceded her in death.
