A funeral service will be held on Thurday at Eaton's Family Funeral Service in Modesto for Lucy Carranza Alvarez, 66, of Ceres. She died Dec. 29, 2009.
Burial will take place in San Jose.
Born on Oct. 29, 1943 to Angel and Mary Escamilla, Lucy was born and raised in San Jose. She lost her husband, Joseph Guadalupe Alvarez, in 1973. She moved to Ceres in 2004.
She leaves behind her children, Julian Alvarez and Joal Alvarez-Ramirez of Ceres; her brothers, Manuel Escamilla of La Habra, Angelo Escamilla of San Jose, Tony Escamilla of Ione; her sisters, Irene Zamora of Madera, Rose Souza of Reno, Lupe Diaz of San Jose, Sally Escamilla of Yuba, Della Escamilla of San Jose, and Kathy Escamilla of San Jose; her grandchildren, Maria Ramirez, Glen Ramirez, Carmen Ramirez and Becky Alvarez, Angie Alvarez and Joseph Alvarez. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Alvarez, and brother Joey Escamilla who was killed in Vietnam in 1969.
