Mabel Lillie King

Graveside services were held at Resthaven Cemetary, in Glendale, Ariz., for Mabel Lillie King, 94, of Avondale, Ariz. She died on Nov. 23, 2005.

Born Dec. 12, 1911, in Honeygrove, Texas, Mrs. King and her husband, the late John King, arrived in Coldwater, Ariz. (later renamed Avondale) in 1941 from Texas in a Model A Ford. They left Texas to escape the Dust Bowl.

Mrs. King was homemaker and she worked for many years as manager of the restaurant in the old Avondale Lanes Bowling Alley. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Avondale. On December 5, 2001 she was honored as a good citizen in a news article in the West Valley View.

Mrs. King leaves behind four daughters, Helen D'Antoni, of Baton Rouge, La., Delores Martin of Amarillo, Texas, Joyce Goblirsch of Ceres, and Loretta King, of Sun City, Ariz.; and 17 grandchildren, numerous great-grand children and several great-great-grandchildren. She was preceeded in death by her husband of 51 years, John King, three children, Robert (Dempsey) King, Patsy Ullman and Billie Jo, and two grandchildren, Bret Goblirsch and Matthew Kellogg.
