Malrie Jan (Ingwerson) Fry
November 3, 1958 – October 9, 2025
Malrie Jan (Ingwerson) Fry was born on November 3, 1958, in Ceres, California, to her loving parents Francis “Gus” L. and Janice Lorraine Ingwerson. She grew up in a home filled with family, memories, and laughter, alongside her siblings. Though she is now reunited in heaven with her parents, as well as her brother Gregory E. Ingwerson and sister Sherri L. Ingwerson-Thornburg, her love for them – and theirs for her – remains everlasting.
She is survived by two sons, Ronald Gregory Fry and Samuel Ian Wigt (Azucena); two granddaughters, Rhylie Fry, 12, and Janice Wigt, 3; her sister, Amron L. Ingwerson–Schumacher (Richard); brother, Eric E. Ingwerson (Carol); and many nieces and nephews.
A proud graduate of Ceres High School’s Class of 1976, Malrie became a deeply rooted part of her community. She spent over 40 years working in the automotive industry, known for her dedication, reliability and loyalty. She retired from Alfred Matthews in Modesto, leaving behind not just coworkers, but lifelong friends who admired her strong work ethic and generous spirit.
But the roles she cherished most were that of mother, grandmother and loving aunt.
She was a devoted mother to her sons.
Her greatest joy lived in the laughter of her granddaughters. They were the light of her life, and she embraced the title of “Nana” with love, humor, and warmth.
Malrie lived a simple country life, one filled with small joys and deep meaning. She loved singing, cherished quiet moments reading old books, and found beauty in preserving family history and genealogy. Nostalgic at heart, she held a deep appreciation for the past – each old book, each story, a treasured link to the people and times she loved.
She had a gentle soul and a giving spirit. She was kind, calm, and loyal – always there for others in a quiet but steadfast way. And yet, she also had a wonderful sense of humor. She could make you laugh when you needed it most and brought levity to life’s ordinary moments.
Her love for family, both those here and those who came before, reflected who she was at her core – someone who believed in connection, memory, and love that transcends time.
Malrie passed away peacefully on October 9, 2025, at the age of 66.
As we gather for her Celebration of Life on Sunday, November 23 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the American Legion Ceres Post located at 2609 Lawrence St., Ceres, CA and honor her at her graveside service on November 24 at Lakewood Memorial Park located at 900 Santa Fe Ave. Hughson, CA at 11 a.m., let us remember her not in sorrow, but with gratitude. Gratitude for her voice that sang, her hands that worked, her laughter that lifted spirits, and her heart that loved unconditionally.
