The rosary was held Thursday, July 7 at St. Jude's Catholic Church for Manuel Dutra Valente, 89, of Turlock. The former Ceres man died Thursday, June 30, 2005 at Turlock Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Burial was at Lakewood Memorial Park under the direction of Lakewood Funeral Home.
Born Oct. 26, 1915, Mr. Valente was a native of Santa Maria and lived in Turlock for seven years. He previously lived in Ceres for 28 years. Mr. Valente was a farmer who belonged to St. Jude's Catholic Church and UPEC. He enjoyed gardening, travel, watching sports and his El Camino.
Mr. Valente leaves behind his stepdaughter, Mary Martin of Woodland; and six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ambrozia Valente; stepson, Joseph Leandro; great-grandson; and one brother.
