Mass was held Friday, Nov. 16, at St. Jude's Catholic Church in Ceres for Maria Isabel Chavez, 71, of Ceres. She died Nov. 8, 2007 at Emanuel Hospital in Turlock.

Burial was at St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery in Modesto under the direction of the Ceres Chapel of Franklin & Downs.

Born Nov. 28, 1935, Mrs. Chavez, had lived in Ceres for the past 29 years. She was a homemaker who enjoyed being around family and friends. She will be remembered always for her kind heart and her easy going spirit.

She leaves behind her husband, Andres Chavez of Ceres; four daughters, Maria Trinidad Chavez, Rosa Ceja, and Maria "Elli" Valdivia, all of Ceres, and Teresa Hernandez of Colusa; three sons, Andres Chavez Jr. of Illinois, and Martin Chavez and Miguel Angel "Mikey" Chavez, both of Ceres; two brothers, Leocadio Rodriguez of Washington and Adolfo Rodriguez of Mexico; her sister, Maria Diaz of Richmond; and 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by daughter, Flor Azalea Garcia (March 31, 2007).
