A memorial service is scheduled for May 5 at the First Methodist Church of Hughson for Mary Elizabeth Russell Jones, 91, of Hughson. She died March 19, 2012.
Born on April 26, 1920 on a Fresno ranch to Marion and Katie Russell, Mary married Vernon Jones in 1942 in Selma where their three children were born. She enjoyed singing in the church choir and creating meticulous embroidery and quilt pieces. She moved to Victorville where she worked as a loan officer for Bank of America. In 1982 she moved to Hughson where Vernon died in 1994.
She leaves behind her children, Geraldine Elkin of Sacramento, Ron Jones of Bay Point, and Ken Jones of Hughson; her grandchildren, Tiffany Tonnerre, Brian Jones, Natalie Elkin, David Elkin, Angela Dominguez and Robbie Jones; two step-grandchildren Dori Freitas and Brian Cunningham; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by brothers John and Robert Russell, step-brothers Larry and Bill Fowler, step-sister Fern Russell and grandson Lonnie Jones.
