A funeral service was held held at Turlock Funeral Home for Melvin "Scotty" Ross Scott, 92, of Turlock. He died Jan. 5, 2009.

Burial was at Turlock Memorial Park.

Born Feb. 20, 1916, Scotty was a natove of Okmulgee, Okla., and came to California in 1938 to live first in Pittsburgh. He made his home in the Modesto/Ceres area and then Hughson for 20 years. He lived in Turlock since 2005. Mr. Scott worked for Greyhound for 32 years. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Modesto and later Full Gospel Assembly of God in Hughson. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. He ministered early in his life, was an avid Bible reader and attended his church regularly.

He leaves behind his wife, Dorothy Mae Scott of Turlock; his son, Kelly Ross of Oakdale; two stepchildren, Jan Lynn of Siloam Springs, Ark., and Ron Richardson of Turlock; his grandchildren, Jessica Scott, Danielle Scott, McKenzie Scott and Tyler Mann; five step-grandchildren, Leann Couchman, A.J. Richardson, Ron Drake, Jeff Drake and Adam Drake; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Geneva Jean Mote, parents Fred Malcomb Scott and Gertrude Jane Scott, sisters Opal Fritz, Velma Pridgen, Ellen Cofey, and brothers Jesse Scott and Carlos Scott.
