A funeral was held Saturday at Primitive Baptist Church in Hughson for Mildred Marie Cook Layne, 92, of Modesto. She died Saturday, March 19, 2005 at Modesto Convalescent Hospital.
Burial was at Lakewood Memorial Park under the direction of the Colonial Chapel of Franklin & Downs.
Born Dec. 25, 1912, Mrs. Layne was a native of Arkansas and lived in Modesto for 69 years. She was a homemaker, and a member of Primitive Baptist Church, Hughson.
She is survived by her four children, Elder Elvin Layne of Hughson, Yvonne Lee and Gary Lane, both of Modesto, and Larry Layne of Sanger; her brother, Raymond C. Cook of Turlock; two sisters, Roberta Alexander of Arizona and Miriam Fisher of Modesto; and 17 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
