A graveside service was held Monday at Lakewood Memorial Park for Miles John Stout, 66, of Ceres. He died Jan. 18, 2012 with his family by his side.

Born June 20, 1944 in Charles City, Iowa to Jack and Vivian Stout, Miles graduated from Atwater High School and his family moved to Alaska soon thereafter. After completing an accounting degree at the University of Alaska, Miles worked as a controller for Brice Construction in Fairbanks, Alaska. In 1976, Miles moved his family to Ceres to start up a construction company with his father and uncle. A few years later he began a new career as a stock broker for E.F. Hutton of Modesto and continued in the money management business for the next 35 years. Mr. Stout worked as a vice president of Investments for Wells Fargo Advisors of Modesto, with a primary focus on retirement. Mick enjoyed daily crossword puzzles, traveling, and playing tennis and pinnacle. He was a member of the Sportsman of Stanislaus (SOS) of Modesto since in 1978, and also served on its finance committee.

He leaves behind his wife of 44 years, Eileen Stout of Ceres; his sons, Chris Stout of Minneapolis, Minn., and Sean Stout of Las Vegas, Nev.; his father, Jack Stout of Atwater; two brothers, Lloyd Stout of Red Bluff, and Scott of Anchorage, Alaska; and four grandchildren, Ella, Matthew, Willy, and Samuel. He was preceded in death by mother Vivian.
