A Celebration of Life will be held at noon today at Oakdale Christian Church, 330 Maxwell Ave., Oakdale, for Millard Duane "Wally" Wallace, 83, of Oakdale. He died April 15, 2011 at his home.

Interment will follow at Escalon Cemetery. Oakdale Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.

Born in Feb. 25, 1928 in Ava, Mo., to Sebastian and Ora Wallace, Millard moved to California in the early 1930s with his family. They lived in Lindsey, Modesto, Ceres and finally Oakdale in 1943. Mr. Wallace graduated from Oakdale High School where he met fuure wife, Dorothy Norwood. For 47 years Millard worked in the fire truck manufacturing industry, starting with Van Pelt where he was a master painter. He later transferred to FMC and finally worked at Hi-Tech Fire Apparatus. Wally was an active volunteer firefighter for the city of Oakdale for 23 years. He was an avid hunter, boater and fisherman and coached Little League, was a Cub Scout leader. Mr. Wallace attended Oakdale Christian Church.

He leaves behind his wife, Dorothy Wallace of Oakdale; his children, Pastor Bob Wallace of Seattle, Wash., Jerry Wallace of Jackson, and Judy Shaffer of Oakdale; one brother; one sister; and eight grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister and great-granddaughter Gabby.
