Nanci Ann Navarro

A funeral mass was held at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Modesto on Saturday for Nanci Ann Navarro, 61, of Modesto. She died April 5, 2011 after a long battle with ovarian cancer.

Born Nov. 3, 1949 to Rick and Helen Navarro in Berkeley. She attended Humboldt State and received her master's degree in Special Education at CSU Hayward in 1977. Nanci moved to the valley and began teaching in Hughson, though she spent most of her 32 year career in Turlock at Osborn School. She was a lifetime member of the CTA and the MTA. Mrs. Navarro enjoyed travel, and backpacking and hiking through national parks in California, Oregon, Montana and Wyoming. After she retired she traveled to Alaska, Montana, and Hawaii several times.

She leaves behind her daughter, Jennifer Fraioli; her father, Rick Navarro; her mother, Helen Allen; her stepfather, Joseph Allen; her sister, Jill Navarro of Crockett; her brother, Eric Navarro of Antioch; her grandparents; and her partner of 18 years, Jan Nunes.
