Services were private for Nellona "Wendy" Faye Duke, 61, of Ceres. She died August 1, 2010 after a long illness.

Born August 9, 1948 in Muskogee, Okla., to Mary and Clarence Clubb, Wendy came to the Modesto/Ceres area in 1951 with her mother and stepfather, Mary and Pete Roman. She was a lifelong resident of the area. Mrs. Duke worked at Don Pedro Elementary School in Ceres as a teacher's aide and was loved by the children she helped. Wendy enjoyed cooking, camping, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She leaves behind her husband, Larry Duke, Sr. of Modesto; two sons, Larry Duke, Jr. of Ceres and Steven Duke of Modesto; five sisters, Clariece Holland of Ceres, Hazel Naymon of Ceres, and Glenda K.A. Laughlin, Jalice Honea and Laurel Hope Smith, all of Coolidge, Ariz.; three brothers, Glenn M. Clubb of Coolidge, Jeffery P. Clubb of Dixon, Mo., and Gilbert L. "Pete" Clubb of Flat, Mo.; and four granddaughters, Jamie Duke, Jackie Duke, Desirae Duke, and Kaycee Duke, all of Modesto. She was preceded in death by parents Mary and Pete Roman, Clarence and Velda Clubb, brothers Tom and Vernon Roman and grandson Justin Wayne Duke.
