Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the Ceres Chapel of Franklin & Downs, Magnolia and Fifth streets, Ceres, for Nicolina "Nicki" Axiak, 84, of Ceres. She died peacefully on July 12, 2011.
A rosary will be held at 6 p.m. tonight at the chapel.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Jude's Catholic Church, Ceres. A graveside service will follow at Ceres Memorial Park.
Born on Jan. 1, 1927 in Zebbug, Gozo, Malta to Catarina and Frank Camilleri, Nicki was a long time resident of Ceres. She enjoyed working in her yard, especially among her roses. Mrs. Axiak also loved to knit and crochet for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She leaves her children, Frances Stone, Emilia Torres, Albert Axiak and Elvira Axiak; her sister, Margaret Grech of Australia; her brother, Joe Camilleri of Sebastopol; her grandchildren, Lisa Hunt, Elizabeth Torres, and Anthony Axiak; six great-grandchildren Ryan Sweeten, Victoria Sweeten, Elisabeth Nicolina Sweeten, Jailee Hunt, Mia Axiak, and Aubree Axiak; and one great-great-grandchild, Ahlexa. She was preceded in death by husband Terry Axiak in 2008, and her sister Mary Cassar in May 2011.
