A memorial service was held Friday at The Salvation Army for Olive Lozo "Nana" Scobel, 88, of Ceres. She died Saturday, March 6, 2004 at Memorial Medical Center.

The Colonial Chapel of Franklin & Downs was in charge of arrangements.

Born Aug. 11, 1915, Mrs. Scobel was a native of Winnipeg, Manitoba, and lived in Ceres for seven years and previously lived in Newark. She was a bookkeeper for 30 years. Mrs. Scobel was a member of the Ceres Senior Club.

She leaves behind three children, Patricia Comer of Modesto, E.M. Jon Scobel of Livermore and Peter Scobel of Fremont; two sisters, Patricia Jones and Rose Shaley, both of Canada; and 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest M. Scobel; daughter, Judith Scobel; two brothers; and two sisters.
