Porter F. Morton

The Neptune Society of Central California was in charge of arrangements for Porter Finley "Jr." Morton, 90, of Hughson. He died Friday, Sept. 30, 2005 at his home.

Born July 27, 1915, Mr. Morton was a native of Moniteau County, Mo., and lived in Hughson for two years and previously lived in Oakdale for 12 years. He worked as a contractor for union construction projects for 55 years. Mr. Morton was a life member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. He was a Merchant Marine veteran of World War II. Mr. Morton enjoyed baseball, yard work, woodworking and dogs.

He leaves behind four children, Donna Cullen of Las Vegas, Darlene Olson of Clinton, Mont., Tom Morton of Livermore and Portia Brooks of Modesto; two brothers, Dean Morton and Don Morton, both of Sedalia, Mo.; two sisters, Nadine Durrill and Shirley Wilson, both of Sedalia, Mo., and Jerry Heap of Taylor, Texas; and eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
