Private services were held at Allen Mortuary for Rickie Rice, 63, of Hughson. He died Sept. 25, 2011 at his residence.
Born Feb. 18, 1948 in Modesto, Rickie was the first of nine children of the late Bob and Opal Rice. He was a Vietnam Vet serving in the Army with the 101st Combat Unit and wounded in 1967. He was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star medals. Mr. Rice enjoyed fishing, hunting, and being in the great outdoors.
He leaves behind his three children, Richard Rice of Hughson, Diane Hawkins of Fresno, and Bruce Rice of Oakdale; his brothers, Sam Rice of Hughson, Robert Rice of Modesto and Tony Rice of Hughson; his sisters, June Riley of Modesto, Annett Arlin of Oakdale, and Mary Jane Gibson of Modesto; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brother Bruce Rice and sister Vickie Gene Rice.
