A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Salas Brothers Funeral Home in Modesto for Robb Wayne Hickey, 50, of Fort Worth, Texas. He died April 26, 2009.

Interment will be at Ceres Memorial Park.

Born May 4, 1958, Robb grew up in Ceres and attended Caswell Elementary, Mae Hensley Junior High, and Ceres High School, graduating in 1976. He received his diploma from his father, Howard Hickey, who was on the School Board at the time. Robb completed the Police Academy program at Modesto Junior College and then became a Stanislaus County Sheriff's deputy at the County Jail in Modesto. While attending the academy he ministered for churches in California and Alabama. Mr. Hickey moved to Las Vegas in the late 1990s where he was a minister for wedding chapels. While in Nevada he was diagnosed with lung cancer and had a lung removed. He survived the cancer and led a healthy life after he moved to Ft. Worth in December. Robb found work as a security guard for a construction firm.

He leaves behind his wife, Zenida Hickey of Ft. Worth, Texas; two children, Alicia Johnson of Ceres and Robert Paul Hickey of Ft. Worth; his sister, Kathy Modgling of Modesto; his brother, Mike Hickey of Everett, Wash.; his parents, Howard and Wanda Hickey of Ceres; and three grandchildren.

Remembrances may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 1604 Ford Ave, Suite #8, Modesto, CA 95350.
