A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. today at the Hughson United Methodist Church, 2007 Sixth Street, Hughson, for Robert "Bob" Forrest Dow, 90, of Ceres. He died March 29, 2012 at home after a short illness.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Franklin and Downs Funeral Homes.

Born Oct. 31, 1921 in Alamosa, Colo., to Bert and Agnes Dow, Bob graduated from Alamosa High School in 1940. He married Mary Lucille Bolton on March 28, 1943 in Alamosa. He attended Adams State College majoring in economics and enlisted in the US Marine Reserves serving during World War II. Later, he attended the University of Denver until being called up for the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged in 1957 as a captain. His first career was as an insurance adjuster for General Motors Corporation. In 1979 he and his wife moved from Denver to Ceres where he continued his second career in real estate home sales with Century 21. He enjoyed following all the area pro-ball teams in each seasonal sport. He was a member of Ceres United Methodist Church for 27 years and since 2007 a member of Hughson United Methodist Church.

He leaves behind his wife of 69 years, Lucille Dow of Ceres; his children, Barbara Barrick of Santa Clarita, Robert F. Dow, Jr, Sacramento, Janet Hoffman of Redmond, Ore.; 11 grandchildren: Nathan Barrick of Riverview, Fla., Deborah Beddoe of Poulsbo, Wash., Lt. Col. Timothy Barrick of Twenty-nine Palms, Tamara Rice of Yucaipa, Melissa Clinton of Longmont, Colo., Andrea Dow of Davis, Sarah Boonchouy of Vacaville, Joel Hoffman of Portland, Ore., Jeremy Hoffman of Bend, Ore., and Lydia Hoffman and Ruth Hoffman, both of Redmond, Ore.; and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents, son, Charles E. Dow, two sisters, and brother Rev. Herbert Dow.
