A memorial service was held Friday at the United Pentecostal Church of Modesto (Revival Center), in downtown Modesto and on Saturday at the Apostolic Assembly in South Modesto for Rodolfo "Rudy" Duarte Tapia, He died Sept. 12, 2009.

Burial was at Lakewood Memorial Park.

Born Sept. 22 1962 in Tijuana, B.C. Mexico to Guillermo and Amelia Tapia, his family moved to Indio where Rudy went to elementary school and later graduated from Indio High School in 1980. As a young man, his passions were painting, basketball and helping others. He was blessed to have had a life changing experience as a young man that inspired him to serve God and to pursue his life's calling as a minister of God in the Apostolic Assembly, First Church of Modesto.As a devoted member of the Apostolic Assembly, First Church of Modesto, he dutifully performed in many capacities such as Youth Counselor and Bible School teacher.

Approximately three years ago, Rudy's faith was challenged when he was diagnosed with cancer. Forever the man of God, Rudy put his complete and total faith in God to see him and his family through this trial. Rudy's faith never wavered during his battle and he remained at peace, strong in the knowledge that he had served the Lord with all his heart and might.

He leaves behind his wife of 17 years, Elizabeth Alicia Amador Tapia; two daughters, Sarah Tapia and Isabel Tapia; his parents Guillermo and Amelia Tapia; his brothers, Antonio Tapia, Juan Tapia, Guillermo Tapia, Ernie Tapia and Carlos Tapia; and five sisters, Rita, Gloria, Lidia, Aurora and Leticia.
