A Mass will be held at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday) at St. Patrick's Catholic Church for Rose Marie Azevedo Augusto, 89, of Escalon. She died Thursday, Oct. 6, 2005 at Oak Valley Care Center in Oakdale.
Burial will be at St. John's Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Deegan Funeral Chapel.
Born March 4, 1916, Mrs. Augusto was a native of Hughson and lived in Escalon for 65 years. She was an employee of Franzia Winery for 25 years. She was an early-morning swimmer at the YMCA of Stanislaus County. Mrs. Augusto enjoyed playing cards with her grandchildren, and she liked to watch soap operas.
She leaves behind her son, Gary Augusto of Escalon; her sister, Angie Pimentel of Modesto; and eight grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Augusto; son, Peter Augusto; brother, Tony Azevedo; and sisters, Mae Amaral, Carrie Nunes and Louise Simas.
