A funeral service was held Friday at Lakewood Funeral Home for Rosemarie C. Havener, 71. The mother of former Ceres Mayor Leo Havener died April 11, 2011 in Modesto.

Born April 10, 1940 in Providence, R.I., to Joseph and Lee Tomao, she moved with t he family to Modesto in 1947. Rosemarie was a graduate of Modesto High School. She was employed by the city of Modesto as a Legal Services Administrator for 33 years upon her retirement. She was an active member of the Garden Club, Lady's Italian Club, Lady Panthers and the Modesto High School Class of 1958 Reunion Committee. Mrs. Havener enjoyed traveling, swimming, entertaining, working in her garden and was considered a talented seamstress. Her son served as mayor of Ceres in 1997 and 1998.

She leaves behind her husband of 52 years, Leo Havener of Modesto; two children, Leo Havener of Folsom and Diana Weisman of Nashville, Tenn.; her mother, Lee Tomao of Modesto; her brother, Joseph Tomao of Modesto; four grandchildren; a stepdaughter; three step-grandchildren and one step-great grandchild.

Remembrances may be sent to the Cancer Society and Community Hospice.
