A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, at Valley Christian Center in Ceres for Thomas Harold Purdom Sr., 77, of Sacramento. He died Jan. 19, 2011 after a brief battle with cancer.
A reception will follow.

Born Nov. 18, 1933 in Osceola, Ark., where he grew up with his three brothers. He moved to California in 1947. After spending time in Los Angeles he moved his family to Newman in 1972 and then to Ceres in 1985. He retired from Gallo in 1993 after working there for 20 years. He spent the next 18 years enjoying fishing, hunting, trips to Reno and spending time with family.
He leaves behind his companion, Renona; two children, Linda Davis and Tom Purdom Jr.; ,five grandchildren, Nick, Josh, Marshall, Jennifer, and Kristi; and five great-grandchildren, Tyler, Nathan, Emily, Colton and Dakota. Preceding him in death were his wife of 38 years, Peggy Purdom and daughter Pamela Dean.
