A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. today (Wednesday)at the Evergreen Chapel Cherokee Memorial Park (Hwy 99 at East Harney Lane) in Lodi for Virginia F. Mitchell, 86, of Lodi. The former Ceres resident died peacefully at her residence in Lodi on Dec. 1, 2007.
Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Born August 1, 1921, Mrs. Mitchell was a native of New Mexico. She lived in Ceres for approximately 20 years before moving to Lodi. Mrs. Mitchell was very active in her church and loved taking care of her family and home. She also enjoyed decorating cakes.
She leaves behind her four children, Claudine Fowler of Mountain Ranch, Janice VanWyk of Denair, William Mitchell of Modesto and Harold Mitchell of Lathrop; two sisters, Birdie Kuehl of Washington and Norma Bell of Yuba City; and 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years Harold A. Mitchell.
