A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday for Walter Delter Whiteside, 63, of Empire. He died Monday, Dec. 13, 2004 at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center.

Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. today (Wednesday) and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Allen Mortuary in Turlock.

Born Oct. 25, 1941, Mr. Whiteside was a native of New Mexico and lived in the Ceres-Modesto area all his life. He worked as a diesel mechanic for 45 years before retiring in 1998. Mr. Whiteside enjoyed repairing a variety of items.

He leaves behind three children, Portia Medeiros of Stockton, Lisa Whiteside of Redwood City and Mike Whiteside of Modesto; his mother, Nadine Whiteside of Modesto; his brother, Jim Whiteside of Sonora; three sisters, Debbie Bayley of New Castle, Colo., Joy Shipman of Turlock and Pearl England of Empire; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Whiteside of Empire.
