A Rosary Mass was held Thursday at St. Stanislaus Church in Modesto for Wendel Clements Trinkler, 84, of Ceres. He died May 25, 2011 at his home after a brief illness.

The McHenry Chapel of Franklin & Downs was in charge of arrangements.

Born Feb. 24, 1927, in Zug, Switzerland, Wendel immigrated to Canada in 1952 and then to California where he met his wife of 54 years, Erna Rothlin. They lived briefly in San Jose where he worked in a creamery until he ventured to Grayson, Turlock, and eventually Ceres. He spent 50 years in the dairy business.

He leaves behind his wife, Erna Trinkler of Ceres, three children, Wendel, Trudy and Rita; a sister and brother in Switzerland; nine grandchildren, Ryan, Dawna, Blake, Patrick, Lindsay, Michelle, Cassie, Jack and George; and two great-grandchildren, Rylee and Gianna, He was preceded in death by son Clem and a sister and a brother.
