A funeral service was held Thursday at Lakewood Funeral Home fo William Curtis Painter, 73, of Ceres. He died April 5, 2009.
Born July 18, 1935 in Cauckey, Tenn., Williamlived in Tuolumne County as a young boy. He then moved to Modesto and Ceres where he lived the rest of his life. He attended Modesto High School where he met his wife Viola Roberson. Mr. Painter was in the Army from 1954 to 1956. Bill was a member of the Teamsters union and worked as a forklift operator for 35 years until retirement. He enjoyed lake fishing, being in the outdoors and talking about fishing with his family and friends.
He leaves behind three children, Steve Rayford, Deborah Cole and Lydia Wherry; his sister, Mable Watson; and 13 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents Charlie and Nell Painter, wife Viola Painter and son Curtis Ray Burke.
