Walmart deal will be good for revenues

Editor, Ceres Courier,

Recently there has been a great deal written about opposition to the Walmart Supercenter. A great deal has been made about re-tenanting. I was one of many who attended the last City Council hearing wherein the re-tenanting issue was raised. To the best of my recall Walmart had indicated and it is conceivably on record that erstwhile businesses such as Barnes & Noble and I believe it was Marshalls among others who had manifested an interest in either leasing or purchasing the current Walmart located on Hatch and Mitchell in Ceres.

I am sure others of like mind will concur this will boost revenues for the city of Ceres by bringing in new retail outlets. It is incomprehensible - all this hue and cry about the new Walmart Supercenter on Mitchell.

Development must not be stymied. The vast majority of Cereans favor this project. It is this writer's fervent prayer that the city stands firm in their endorsement of the new Walmart Supercenter.

This will create many jobs and reduce the ranks of the unemployed whose dignity matters.

Hail Walmart and kudos to the city of Ceres for their resolve in endorsing this much needed project.

Gary Rambaran,

Ceres
