Shall man be allowed to govern himself or ruled by a small elite?

Editor, Ceres Courier,

As we recently celebrated the Fourth of July, and remember the lives and sacrifices of those who gave us our freedom, it would be good to remember the words of Thomas Jefferson when he said:

"The issue today is the same as it has been throughout all history, whether man shall be allowed to govern himself or be ruled by a small elite."

Ruth Russell
