Citizens signing petition to end council benefits
letter

Editor, Ceres Courier,

I am reaching out regarding a petition that I, along with fellow Ceres community members, have initiated. The petition urges the Ceres City Council to eliminate taxpayer-funded health insurance for council members, which currently costs approximately $100,000 per year.

The City of Ceres has not maintained a balanced budget in over six years and continues to rely on reserve funds to close budget gaps each fiscal year. As the Council prepares to approve the upcoming fiscal year budget in June, residents are calling on our elected officials to eliminate this expense and prioritize long-term financial stability. Please refer to the news release attached below and let me know if you have any questions.
