State, federal officials to hold join office hours

Editor, Ceres Courier,

As federal and state legislators, we value the opportunity of bringing our offices' constituent services to the smaller communities and towns of our districts. We also see a benefit in holding district office hours jointly so that constituents in the selected communities have an opportunity to meet on case work and issues on an individual basis. To that point, and since working together often gets more done than working alone, we have decided to hold joint office hours in local communities. Constituents and officials will have the ability to ask questions and have their specific concerns explored in their own communities and can discuss their items with both federal and state offices at the same time.

All too often government works at cross purposes. This is one small step to avoid that as it relates to individual cases and communities. Our office hours in August are as follows:

• Modesto - Second Thursday of the month, Aug. 14, Maddux Youth Center, 615 Sierra Drive, Modesto;

• Newman - Second Friday of the month, Aug. 8, 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Newman City Hall, 938 Fresno Street, Newman;

• Patterson - Second Friday of the month, Aug. 8, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Patterson City Hall, 1 Plaza, Patterson;

• Ceres - Third Friday of the month, Aug. 15, 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., Ceres Community Center, 2701 Fourth Street, Ceres.
