Editor, Ceres Courier,

The St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Ceres thanks donors and supporters for another successful Christmas Basket distribution. More than 125 families received generous boxes of groceries and toys for younger children.

A very heartfelt thank you goes out to Henry Lopez and a local car club for a very generous donation of wonderful toys. Thank you to Cost Less Foods on Hatch Road for many of the grocery items, D & S Farms of Atwater for sweet potatoes, Gemperle Enterprises of Turlock for eggs, Scott Long of Ceres for the oranges, Jim and Kathy Casey of Ceres and Safe-T-Lite of Modesto.

A special thanks to the parishioners of St. Jude’s who provided donations of food, toys, monetary gifts and time. This annual project would not happen without this generous support of donors and the work of the volunteers.

The organization continues to have weekly food pantry hours on Wednesdays from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. to meet the food needs of low-income people in the community area.
