Wrestling tournament had lots of supporters

Editor, Ceres Courier,

On behalf of the Ceres High School Wrestling program, I would like to thank the community and our sponsors for their support of our successful 50th annual Wrestling Tournament that was held on Dec. 5. This is one of the oldest tournaments in the area.

We would not have been able to host this fine tournament without a great deal of support including my wrestling parents, the Ceres Lions Club, the Ceres High School Athletic Boosters, Mello Truck Repair, Randik Paper, Chief Mike Borges and family, Josh Letras of PMZ Real Estate, Luxury Limo, Sam's Cafe, MoCal Office Systems, Kathi Foster, Parson's Embroidery Plus, the Alba family, Supermom's Frozen Yogurt, Producers Milk and the numerous businesses and individuals who assisted us.

I would also like to thank the Ceres High School administrative team led by Principal Linda Stubbs as Athletic Director Shawna Nunes and Activities Director Linda Cooper for their continued support.

I am grateful to have a number of assistant coaches to dedicate time each day for our athletes including Josh Woolley, Brian Becerra, Cecil Cervantez, Josh Letras, Gabe Balderas and Ruben Sanchez.

The sport of wrestling builds character, commitment and dedication. We have a tremendous team of athletes and I am proud of each and every one of them.

Steve Festa,
CHS wrestling coach
