Obama jumped right into Libya

What are the differences between the war in Iraq and the war in Libya?

On Dec. 20, 2007, then Senator Barack Obama in an interview with the Boston Globe stated: "The president does not have power under the Constitution to unilaterally authorize a military attack in a situation that does not involve stopping an actual or imminent threat to the nation." So what did Obama do in Libya? He attacked a country that did not have an actual or imminent treat to the United States. Like Iraq, Libya never attacked us. Obama claims he had authority to attack Libya because of a humanitarian effort since Gadhafi was killing his own people. Likewise, the attack against Iraq was based on the threat to America after Sept. 11, 2001 as Saddam Hussein had used weapons of mass destruction on his own people, killing the Kurdish people in northern Iraq.

However, there are differences. Obama stated while running for president, he would negotiate and would not jump into war; but he did not negotiate and did jump into war without any congressional approval that is required by the Constitution as Obama referenced himself on Dec. 20, 2007. However, Bush did negotiate through the United Nations with Saddam Hussein with 17 different UN resolutions. Bush also got a bipartisan congressional approval and waited approximately a year and a half before we attacked Iraq. With no congressional approval, the war in Libya is completely unfunded and by Obama's own reference illegal.

Obama references that he has a coalition from other countries; but Bush also had a coalition that was twice as large.

Those that bashed Bush claimed that the war in Iraq was for oil; but no oil was ever taken by the United States, even though I personally believe it should have been taken to pay for the war and liberating the country; but the war in Libya is about oil since the oil from Libya goes to European countries. Those that bashed Bush also called him a "baby killer," yet our bombs are also dropping on the families in Libya killing babies and children.

Prior to the war in Iraq, Bush talked to the American people and explained his plan. Obama waited nine days after he started the war in Libya, and had several different plans causing confusion about our strategy and what our nation intended to have as the outcome from the war.

We are in a preemptive, unfunded, and undeclared war for oil supporting unidentified rebels that are associated with the Muslim Brotherhood and Al Qaeda cells, who also hate America.

Strange enough, Gadhafi sent a letter after to Obama stating to him "You will always remain our son whatever happened. We endeavor and hope you will gain victory in the new election campaign." This may be in reference with Obama's pastor Reverend Jeremiah Wright visited Gadhafi along with Louis Farrakhan, head of the Nation of Islam.

What will Obama do next? He doesn't even know. The story changes each day. Why not bomb North Korea, Yemen, Bahrain, and Iran? Apparently, Obama feels he can do what he wants and make up American policy as he goes along.
