The Soroptimist International of Ceres hosted a Chartering Party for the Central Valley High School "S" Club recently.

The CVHS S Club was originated in the last year and the Feb. 23 Charter event finalized the process for the CVHS students to formally work as a service club under the guidance of the Ceres club.

Ceres High School "S" Club members were on hand at the well-attended event at Supermom's Frozen Yogurt to welcome the CVHS students to the program.

"The 'S' Club is an extension of Soroptimist International where local high school students can dedicate their time to provide service and help to women and children in our community," said SI of Ceres president Arlene Vilas. "We are so fortunate in Ceres to have so many outstanding students participating in our schools' 'S' Clubs. This speaks volumes for our community."

"S" Club advisors are Angela Durossette for Ceres High and Veronica Giddens for Central Valley High.

Members of SI of Ceres were on hand to officially perform the duties as required by the charter.

"Now both Ceres High and Central Valley High can work collectively for programs in our community," said Vilas.

Currently, they are dedicating their efforts towards Relay for Life and previously collected food for the needy during the holidays.
