The Pac-12 Conference honored Ceres High grad Nicole “Sis” Bates as its Player of the Week on Monday after leading Washington’s top-ranked softball team to a three-game sweep of No. 9 Arizona at Husky Stadium.

The sophomore shortstop batted .455 (5-for-8) from the plate this past weekend with two doubles, one RBI and two runs.
Nicole leads 32-2 Washington in batting average (.436) and has set new career-high marks in home runs (5) and stolen bases (4).

She ranks sixth in the nation and second in the Pac-12 with 37 runs.

Nicole needs just five runs and eight RBIs to equal last season’s totals.

Bates had a success-filled freshman season with Washington this past spring.

She was a finalist for the 2017 Schutt Sports/National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division I Freshman of the Year award.

Nicole earned NFCA Pacific-Region Third-Team honors.

She was also selected to the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team.

Nicole started all 64 games for the 50-14 Huskies, with her primary position being second base.

She posted a batting average of .338 with three home runs, six triples, 10 doubles, 33 RBIs and 42 runs.
Bates collected 66 hits.

She committed just five errors

Nicole ranked first on the team in triples, second in total hits and runs scored, fourth in doubles, fifth in RBIs and total bases, and sixth in homers, walks, slugging percentage and on-base percentage.

She led the conference in triples.

Sixth-seeded Washington advanced to the semifinals of the NCAA Division-I Women’s College World Series.

The Huskies fell two victories shy of qualifying for the championship game.

Washington claimed Super Regional and Regional titles.

Bates earned a roster spot on the USA Softball Women’s National Team (WNT) in January.

She helped lead the Junior National Team to a gold medal at the World Baseball Softball Confederation World Championship in July.

Nicole batted .444 (12-for-27) from the plate with seven RBIs, 12 runs and two stolen bases during the tournament.
