Eric Scudder, Dmitry Polovin, Mike Polovin, J.C. Reed, Jarret Mills, Dwight Braverman, Joey Rossi, Markus Richter and James Carswell guided the Bulldogs to their fourth win in league. The Ceres High boys swimming and diving team edged Johansen 93-89 in Modesto on Friday.
Ceres improved to 4-4-1 in the Central California Conference standings.
The Bulldogs won eight of 12 events, including three of four relays.
The 200 free relay team of Reed, Mike Polovin, Richter and Braverman took first in 1:45.47.
Polovin had his best-ever split time. He completed the second leg of the race in 25.55 seconds.
Braverman finished the last leg of the race in 24.75 seconds.
"He (Dwight) caught up and touched him (Johansen's swimmer) out by one-100th of a second," said Ceres coach Sonja Raynes. "That was the difference between first place, eight points, and second place, six points."
The 400 free relay team of Scudder, Dmitry Polovin, Rossi and Mills barely won. They took first in 3:40.62.
Scudder completed his portion of the race in 51.5 seconds.
"He swam the fourth leg and he was also behind when he entered the water and he pulled it out," Raynes said. "He won by a second."
The 200 medley relay team of Scudder, Reed, Dmitry Polovin and Mills took first in 1:50.83.
Scudder took first in the 200 individual medley in 2:14.53 and 100 backstroke in 1:02.80.
Mike Polovin took second in the 100 back in 1:10.57 and third in the 200 IM in 2:31.27.
Mills took first in the 50 freestyle in 24.45 seconds and second in the 100 free in 56.72 seconds.
Dmitry Polovin took first in the 100 butterfly in 1:03.51.
Carswell won the diving competition.
"James took first in diving again," Raynes said. "He's undefeated in league."
Reed took second in the 100 breaststroke in 1:13.56.
Rossi took second in the 500 free in 5:38.09.
Richter took third in 100 breast in a personal-best time 1:15.29.
