Central Valley's Scott Myatt, and Ceres High's Brent Ward, Dustin Baisdon and Tyler Cummings participated in the 22nd Annual Modesto Sunrise Rotary All-Star Baseball Game on Saturday, June 25 at John Thurman Field.

"It was really cool getting to play on such a nice field," Myatt said. "It's definitely a pitcher's park. The fences are high and deep."

Myatt, Ward, Baisdon and Cummings suited up for the East squad, which suffered a 7-3 loss while facing the West during the large-school contest.

Scott batted sixth in the lineup and started at catcher. He singled twice and scored once.

Myatt also earned Academic All-Star honors. He had a 4.09 grade-point average.

"You never want to go out there and stink it up," Scott said. "We showed that we deserved to be there. I don't think we should be ashamed of our performance."

Ward started and played the entire game in left field. Brent doubled and scored once.

Baisdon started in right field and pitched. Dustin singled and walked. He allowed three runs and three hits with one strikeout while tossing one inning of relief.

Cummings batted 1-for-2. He gave up three runs and two hits with one strikeout in the fifth inning.

"We had a lot of fun," Ward said. "We competed with the best."

Added Myatt: "We can't be too disappointed. It's not like we lost to a bad team. They had some good hitters and made us pay."
