The senior quarterback passed for 122 yards and three first-half touchdowns, two to receiver Brian Borges, defensive lineman Zack Wiedenbeck recovered a fumble in the end zone for a touchdown and junior linebacker Luis Malagon returned an interception 89 yards for a score in guiding the Ceres High football team to a 37-27 victory over Weston Ranch.

"The first half we dominated," Goblirsch said. "The second half we tried to play everybody and almost gave it away."

Cruz Flores had four catches for 42 yards and a score and Ryan Leazer added 63 yards on 13 carries as the Bulldogs bounced back from the previous week's loss at Manteca and improved to 1-1 overall.

The Bulldogs forced six turnovers, including three in the second quarter when they outscored the Cougars 13-0.

Wiedenbeck scored his defensive touchdown and Flores hauled in a 7-yard touchdown pass from Goblirsch. Jake Loveland's fumble recovery at the Ceres 47 set up the Bulldogs' second score.

"Our defense stepped it up tonight," Goblirsch said.

Borges' 7-yard touchdown reception and Brandon Gresham's point-after-attempt kick evened the score at 7-7. The 13-play, 65-yard scoring drive lasted 6 minutes, 2 seconds.

Goblirsch's 8-yard touchdown strike to Borges capped a three-play, 47-yard scoring drive, and Gresham's PAT gave the Bulldogs a 14-7 lead.
