Central Valley, Ceres High boys collect non-conference wins

Central Valley High School's varsity boys soccer team defeated Hughson and Manteca by a combined score of 13-0 in non-league play this past week.

"I'm very pleased with the performances," Hawks head coach Omar Leon said. "It was almost perfect. The kids held possession for 80 percent of the games. We were consistent."

Daniel Ochoa collected four goals while leading Central Valley to a 6-0 victory over Hughson on Thursday in Ceres.

Emmanuel Morales and Omar Orozco both scored once for the Hawks, who improved to 6-0 on the year.

Juan Medrano, Samuel Martinez and Juan Martinez all dished out one assist.

Andres Cazares was forced to make just one save at goalkeeper thanks to the Hawks' dominant ball possession.

Central Valley shut out the Buffaloes 7-0 on Tuesday, Aug. 30 in Manteca.

Ochoa had a team-high four goals.

Jonathan Ramos had one goal and one assist.

Morales and Orozco contributed one goal each.

Ozzie Ramos and Jose Trigueros assisted.

Cazares tallied six saves.

Central Valley will play host to Sierra on Thursday at 4 p.m.

"I have a good feeling about this season," Leon said. "The kids understand we have to have good performances no matter who we play. We can't underestimate anybody."

CHS 3, Pitman 1

Ceres High School's varsity boys soccer team executed its game plan to perfect during Thursday's 3-1 win over the Pitman Pride in Turlock.

"We had a balanced attack," Bulldogs head coach Koeurn Phe said. "The team worked well together."

Junior Alfredo Arana tallied two goals and one assist for Ceres High, which improved to 2-2-1.

Bulldog freshman Cristian Cabrales scored once.

Michael Quintanilla collected one assist.

Jesus Ramirez and Huberto Luna made six and four saves, respectively, while splitting time at goalkeeper.

Ceres High will play against Hilmar today and East Union on Thursday at Ceres River Bluff Regional Park.
