Central Valley High School's girls basketball program won two of three games while competing in the Modesto Junior College summer league on Monday, June 27.
The dead-tired Hawks played 10 times the previous three days at the Chico State Camp.
"We did pretty good today," Central Valley post player Geena Wade said. "We're still recovering from four full days of basketball."
The Hawks pulled away for a 52-36 win while facing Riverbank.
Mia Lorenzo and Deja Jackson both scored 10 points.
Vivien Fermil, Geena Wade and Diana Carmona tallied six points apiece.
Melinda Camarillo and Vanessa Dias both contributed four points.
Catrina Castillo, Valerie Olide and Jessica Martinez all had two points.
The Hawks took control with a 20-8 run late in the first half.
Lorenzo had 10 straight points, while Carmona added six.
Central Valley posted a 43-40 victory over Buhach Colony.
The Hawks lost 52-30 to Grace Davis.
Wade poured in a team-high 11 points.
Olide totaled eight points.
Fermil, Lorenzo and Camarillo chipped in with five, four and two points, respectively.
The Spartans outscored Central Valley 12-1 in the final four minutes of the first half.
"We played 13 games in four days," head coach Jesse Padilla said. "That's tough on any team."
