Central Valley softball shuts out LB, Patterson

Central Valley High School's varsity softball team lost twice by the mercy rule in Western Athletic Conference play last week.

The Hawks were shut out by host Los Banos, 10-0, in five innings on Tuesday, April 3.

Central Valley collected just four hits and stranded five runners on base against the first-place Tigers (5-1).

Katie Carpenter singled twice.

Sarah McElroy and Lindsey Alexander both singled.

McElroy and Lexy Cordova both logged playing time at pitcher.

Sarah was tagged with the loss. She allowed eight runs and nine hits with two strikeouts and four walks in four innings.

Lexy gave up two runs and two hits in one inning. She walked one.

The Tigers batted .583 (14-for-24) from the plate as a team.

Los Banos pitcher Taylor Harris tallied two strikeouts in five innings.

The Hawks allowed two runs in the first, third and fifth innings, and four in the fourth.

Patterson routed Central Valley 10-0 on Thursday in Ceres.

The Hawks totaled five hits. Malynda Lomeli tripled. McElroy, Alexander, Riehanna Lucero and Lynaya Lerma all singled.

Patterson and Central Valley compiled identical 1-5 records during the first half of the WAC season.

The Hawks will play host to second-place Livingston (4-2) on April 17 and first-place Ceres High (5-1) on April 20.
