Central Valley's Ruben Casas, and Ceres High's Jimbo Pernetti, Devon Ruger, Brandon Arevalos and Nick Welsh will suit up for the East team at the 23rd Stanislaus County All-Star Baseball Classic this Saturday at John Thurman Field.

Pernetti, Ruger, Arevalos and Welsh helped lead the Bulldogs to a runner-up finish in the Western Athletic Conference (8-4) this past season.

Jimbo was awarded the WAC's MVP award.

The junior shortstop led the league in batting average (.556), homers (2), runs (17) and slugging percentage (.889). He was second in doubles (6), and third in RBIs (13) and on-base percentage (.550). Pernetti committed just three errors on defense.

Ruger (Jr., 1B) and Arevalos (Jr., OF) earned first-team, all-league accolades.

Arevalos batted .500 with one homer, one triple, four doubles, 14 RBIs, eight runs and two steals.

Ruger batted .429 with five doubles, seven runs and 13 RBIs.

Welsh (Sr., OF) was named to the WAC Second Team.

He batted .395 with one homer, one triple, one double, seven RBIs, 12 runs and seven stolen bases.

Casas (Jr., SS/P) played a major role while propelling the Hawks (5-7) to a tie for fourth-place with Los Banos and Livingston in the WAC standings.

Ruben batted .278 with one triple, two doubles, five RBIs, nine runs and three steals.

He posted a 1-3 record with a 2.55 ERA, one shutout, two complete games and 26 strikeouts on the mound.

Casas had quality outings against WAC-champion Central Catholic and third-place Patterson.

Ruben yielded no runs and just four hits with nine strikeouts and two walks over seven innings in a 6-0 win over the Tigers.

He gave up one earned run, scattered five hits and struck out seven in a tough-luck 2-1 loss to the Raiders.
