Ceres High's girls basketball program tipped off its summer campaign on the road earlier this month.

The Bulldogs won one of two games while competing in the Escalon League on June 8 at El Portal Middle School.

Ceres High won its first game, 29-22, versus Denair.
The Bulldogs built a double-digit lead and held on for the seven-point victory.

Ceres dropped its second game, 36-12, to 2016-17 Sac-Joaquin Section Division-III playoff-quarterfinalist and Valley Oak League champion Manteca.

The Buffaloes outscored the Bulldogs 20-4 in the opening half.

Ceres High's summer roster features a mix of returnees and newbies.

Camryn Silva, Harmen Bahia, Ayannah O'Neal and Angelina Ursua suited up for the 2016-17 varsity team, which posted a 11-15 overall record and finished fourth in the Western Athletic Conference (5-5).

A handful of players from last year's WAC championship frosh-soph girls hoops team will also contribute, including Naciah Smith, Chrystal Perales, Mya Robinson, Jacquelyn Pulido, Vivian Moreno, Gabriela Carrasco and Lauren Gonzalez.

Newcomers Cheralyn Durossette, Allison Stiles and Alyssa Stiles will also log playing time.

Silva was sidelined with an ankle injury last week.

Ceres High will face Summerville at 5:15 p.m. and Atwater at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday in Escalon.
