Kaydence Bispo was the star of the meet on the girls' side in Woodland.

The Ceres Dolphins recreational swim club member claimed the 7-8 girls Individual High-Point trophy at the 15th Annual Sacramento Valley Meet of Champions this past weekend at the Roseville Aquatics Complex.

She racked up 95 points.

"There was a lot of pressure on her and it didn't bother her," Dolphins head coach Tracy Bull said.

Competing in the A-finals, eight-year-old Bispo swept the 25 breast, 25 back, 25 free and 50 free. She finished fourth in the 25 fly, an event she was a participant in just twice this year.

"It has to go down as the greatest performance ever by a Dolphin," Bull said. "She dominated. When you have athletes like that, it makes the sport fun."

Bispo competed 11 times in two days.

She was the top seed in four of five events following prelims.

"Kaydence was fourth in the 25 fly," Bull said. "She just missed winning a medal. That's incredible."

Bispo was also a part of two successful relay teams.

Ceres' 7-8 girls 100 free relay team of Bispo, Bianca Najera, Madeline Staley and Savannah Gonzalez placed first.

Ceres' 7-8 girls 100 medley relay team of Gonzalez, Bispo, Staley and Najera finished second.

Karlee Bispo, Kaydence's older sister, had a storied swim career at Downey High School prior to becoming a 28-time All-American at the University of Texas.

She had a perfect 108-0 record at the prep level.

Karlee won a gold medal at the 2013 FINA World Championships in Spain. She was a member of the United States' winning 4x200-meter freestyle relay team.

"Kaydence is a once-in-lifetime swimmer," Bull said. "She trains like a champion. She never boasts how good she is. She comes from a very humble family."

Bispo, Najera, Staley, Diego Armas, Leilani Olanolan, Aryanna Jimenez, Zachary Jones and Ciana Sather helped lead the Dolphins to an 11th-place finish in the large-team standings.

Ceres totaled 345 points.

The Elk Grove Piranhas (2,256.5), Johnson Ranch Barracudas (1,784) and Gold River Stingrays (939) placed first, second and third, respectively.

"From an overall standpoint, I'm pretty happy," Bull said. "I would have liked to have done better. But the competition is so good. It's high level. There's a lot of swimming. You have prelims and finals the same day. It's draining."

Armas (34 points) took 11th overall in the 9-10 boys age group.

He finished third in the 50 free in the A-final.

Swimming in the B-finals, Diego took first in both the 25 free (ninth overall) and 25 back (ninth overall).
He was 49th in the 25 breast.

"He performed extremely well," Bull said.
